Pushpa 2: The Rule, Amaran, Jigra: OTT and theatre releases this week | Dec 2 - 8

October releases 'Amaran', 'Jigra', and 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' will make its way to Netflix this week; meanwhile, Hollywood horror film 'Smile 2' will hit the small screen on December 4

The highly anticipated Telugu film Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil, will hit the big screens on December 5. Hollywood rom-com Fly Me to the Moon, featuring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum will release this week on Apple TV+.

Amaran

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is based on the real-life story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment, who was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for his bravery during the counterterrorism operation in 2014 in Jammu and Kashmir. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, and Suresh Chakravarthi.

Jigra

Directed by Visan Bala, Jigra focuses on the unwavering bond between siblings. Satya and Ankur Anand had a rocky childhood which left them both relying on each other. When Satya finds out that her brother has been captured and is being tortured in a foreign jail, she makes it her mission to rescue him. With her brother as the only family she has left, Satya takes on the daring task. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video

Vicky and Vidya are a newly married couple whose reputation is at stake after an intimate video tape of them in the 90s, is stolen. The pair goes into a frenzy to get a hold of the tape before anything drastic occurs. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the movie stars Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri.

Smile 2

A sequel to the 2022 film, Smile 2 follows global pop sensation Skye Riley who starts experiencing unexplainable and frightening encounters, which starts to disrupt her performances. She realises that she must confront her haunting past to reclaim control of her life. Directed by Parker Finn, it stars Naomi Scott, Rosemary DeWitt, Lucas Gage and Ray Nicholas.

Agni

Billed as India’s first film paying tribute to firefighters, the movie follows firefighter Vithal who teams up with his policeman brother-in-law Samit who must to reluctantly join forces to unravel the mystery behind the sudden surge in fires in their city. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, it stars Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, Saiyami Kher, Sai Tamhankar, and Jitendra Joshi.

Fly Me to the Moon

This romantic comedy is set in the backdrop of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing, where two employees of NASA – marketing strategist Kelly Jones and launch director Cole Davis are tasked with creating a fake moon landing just in case the real mission fails. Directed by Greg Berlanti, the film features Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson, Ray Romano, and Jim Rash.

Pushpa 2: The Rule

A sequel to the hit 2021 film, Pushpa 2: The Rule will follow Pushpa, who is involved in the illegal smuggling of red sandalwood, and quest for revenge against SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, following the death of his mother and brother. The film, directed by Sukumar, will star Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Jagapathi Babu, and Dhananjaya.

Solo Leveling: ReAwakening

Release date: December 6

In a world where hunters have superpowers, Sung Jinwoo has been ridiculed for being “the weakest hunter of all mankind”. Jinwoo yearns for the ability to be strong, and wants to prove himself by accepting a mysterious quest. This animated film, directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, the characters are voiced by Makoto Furukawa, Reina Ueda, Hiroki Tōchi, Banjō Ginga, and Genta Nakamura.

An exhausted and undervalued assistant director, with high hopes of being a director someday, gains the support of his middle class family to produce and bring to life the script he has written.
