On December 3, in response to the rumours sparked by his recent social media post, actor Vikrant Massey has clarified that he is only taking a sabbatical rather than retiring from acting, explaining that his words in the post were misinterpreted by many.
“Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health are also acting up… People misread it (the social media post),” Massey told News18 Showsha.
In a statement given to Zoom, he further elaborated, “Acting is all I can do. And it has given me everything I have. My physical and mental health have taken a hit. I just want to take some time off, want to better my craft. I feel a sense of monotony at the moment. My post has been misinterpreted. That I am quitting or retiring from acting. I want to take some time off to focus on my family and health. I would be back when the time feels right.”
Massey’s explanation allays any concerns regarding the actor’s future in Bollywood. His Instagram post had stunned his fans and colleagues, particularly because it came at the height of his career.
Massey, who has gained recognition for his nuanced portrayals in films such as 12th Fail, Sector 36, Haseen Dillruba, and Chhapaak, was most recently seen in The Sabarmati Report, which released in theatres on November 15.
