Television actor Ravi Dubey, amid rumours, has confirmed his appearance in Nitesh Tiwari directorial Ramayana. Dubey will star alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the highly anticipated mythological flick.

The actor, who will helm the role of Lakshman in the film, confirmed the rumours in an interview with Cinema Cine. When asked by the interviewer if he was playing Lakshman, the Jamai Raja actor replied, “With due permission of the makers, I am, yes.”

“What I felt was, there was a certain sanctity to the project, and I feel Namit sir (Namit Malhotra, producer of Ramayana), Nitesh sir, might have a plan as to how they want to talk about it. I may corrupt it if I just blurt out things irresponsibly and frivolously in front of people. So I didn't even share it in my personal spaces where I can be quoted,” the 40-year-old added, when his wife, Sargun Mehta, who was also being interviewed, joked that her husband had not broken to news to her either.

Dubey knew that since the news was flying around, many would ask him if the rumours were true, so he approached the filmmakers asking whether he could break the news. “It would be very unhygienic for me to say ‘no comment’ which will be as good as a comment. So I took due permission from them and I told them that if at all this question comes up, what should I say? When they said yes, is when I am saying yes.”

The actor, though he mentioned that he could not speak more about the film, dwelt on the script of the upcoming movie. “It is beautiful. It is honest and very sincere. It is an important story for all of us. The story has been told and re-told many ways but being a part of this culture, I believe that we are making a very sincere attempt with Nitesh sir helming it.”

The Badall Pe Paon Hai actor admitted that this was his first time acting on a large film set, and was excited to work with Ranbir Kapoor. “He's like the older brother I never had. He's kind, he's warm, he's the most immaculate professional that I've ever met. This was my first experience working on a very big movie set, and my first time working alongside a megastar like Ranbir bhai. Every time he is in front of the camera, you will see he has been at it. He is the most graceful person I have come across.”

Kapoor is set to star as Lord Ram alongside Sai Pallavi's Sita. The two-part epic, which finished shooting for Part 1 earlier this year, is slated for Diwali 2026 release, and Part 2 for Diwali 2027.
