After a stampede outside the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of the movie Pushpa 2: The Rule killed a 39-year-old woman, M. Revathi, police have filed a case against actor Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre’s management as the actor showed up for the premiere show without prior warning.

Based on a complaint from the deceased person's family, they have been charged under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Chikkadpally police station, according to The Indian Express. Investigation is currently underway.

Even though the theatre management was aware of the actor and his team's arrival, the police said that neither the actor’s team nor the theatre management gave any notice that they would be attending the show and that there was no separate entrance or exit for them.

Hyderabad’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the Central Zone said that everyone accountable for the chaotic situation inside the theatre that resulted in one person's death and other injuries will face severe legal repercussions.

At around 9.30pm on Wednesday, Allu Arjun and his personal security arrived at the theatre. As hundreds of people flocked to see him, his security team began shoving the crowd, which made matters worse.

Together with the audience, the actor and his security team entered the lower balcony, when tragedy struck Revathi and her 9-year-old son. Police officers gave her and her son cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and took them to the nearby Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. The doctor declared her dead and suggested that the boy be sent to another hospital for better care, a statement said.

According to reports, the child is receiving treatment and is in a critical condition.

The family has asked the theatre management to be held accountable and has asked the actor to comment on the event, and for support.
