Amazon Prime has released the first teaser for Season 3 of their ongoing series Reacher, starring Alan Ritchson as the eponymous action hero. The new season will premiere on Feb 20.
Judging by the footage, the stakes seem to have gotten bigger this time for Jack Reacher, as he is forced to confront a character named Paulie, played by real-life bodybuilder Olivier Richters.
The series is based on the Jack Reacher books of author Lee Child. Each explores a thrilling standalone adventure featuring Reacher. The third season is an adaptation of the seventh Jack Reacher novel, Persuader, in which Paulie first makes his appearance. He is said to be working for a shady character named Zachary Beck, played by Anthony Michael Hall, in the new season.
Olivier Richters is said to be taller -- at 7-foot-2 -- than Ritchson, who is over six feet in height. Aside from the two Reacher seasons, the latter recently appeared in the Guy Ritchie actioner, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
The third season of Reacher will begin with the streaming of three episodes, accompanied by one each week, with the final episode slated for March 27.
As per the official synopsis, “Reacher hurtles into the dark heart of a vast criminal enterprise when trying to rescue an undercover DEA informant whose time is running out. There, he finds a world of secrecy and violence — and confronts some unfinished business from his own past."
Aside from Ritchson, Richters, Hall, and Maria Sten (returning from Season 2), the Reacher Season 3 cast comprises Sonya Cassidy, Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Robert Montesinos and Daniel David Stewart. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios. Showrunner Nick Santora serves as executive producer alongside Child and Ritchson, in addition to Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell.
The makers have confirmed that a fourth season is on the way.
