Singer Sonu Nigam has come forward with a video message requesting politicians to ignore concerts if they do not intend to stay for a whole performance. His reaction was triggered by the attitude of some political personalities who, in the middle of the Rising Rajasthan event held on Monday, left while Nigam was performing.
Calling it an "insult to goddess Saraswati", Nigam said that leaving an artiste's performance midway is disrespectful. "If you have to leave, either don't come or leave before the show starts," he suggested.
Recalling his unpleasant experience, the 51-year-old singer said that this kind of behaviour sets a bad precedent, and might compel others attending a performance to behave in the same way. “Delegates came from all over the world to enhance the pride of Rajasthan. There was a CM, a youth minister, and a sports minister. There were a lot of people. I could not see all of them in the dark. There were a lot of people. In the middle of the show, I saw that the CM and the rest of the people leave. As soon as they left, all the delegates also left. I have a request to all politicians, if you do not respect your artiste, how would others behave?" he said.
He concluded the message by saying, “If you are leaving, then this is not the end of art. You are great. You have a lot of work. You handle all the responsibilities. You shouldn't waste your time in a show. You should leave early. Thank you. Very humbly, I request all of you.”
Nigam recently crooned a track 'Mere Dholna 3.0', for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, a revamped version of a song from the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa movie.
