While Rupert Murdoch many have lost the succession battle to his children, celebrities are in the news for different kinds of family drama. This time, it’s all about kids—unborn, fresh from the cradle, or a little too old to be called “kids.”

From parenthood to trust funds and parental cover-ups, here’s a look at the latest celebrity news involving their offspring.

‘Confessions of a teenage drama queen’ and her King: The Fox-Kelly saga

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly (aka MGK) have reportedly cut off their messy relationship. Again! While the internet thinks the couple has traversed too many breakups and that their “twin flame energy” has, in fact, gotten exhausting, the latest split has piqued the interest of many owing to the same happening weeks after their pregnancy announcement.

TMZ reported that the couple decided to call off their notoriously sporadic relationship during a Thanksgiving trip in Vail, Colorado. The outlet added: “Megan found material on MGK’s phone that was upsetting and made her want him to leave the trip early. MGK dipped out of the trip early, and since then, the former couple hasn’t seen each other, and they are not together at this time.”

The baby is seemingly due in March, and sources told the US Weekly that “they were trying to make it work again after the pregnancy, but they are both too hot-headed and fell back into their constant fighting. They can’t get on the same page and it’s not easy for them being together.”

Cosmopolitan quoted an unnamed insider revealing that the American actress and rapper had “always been rocky and had their ups and downs. But they have been proactive in therapy and very spiritual and honest with one another.”

The outlet also added that Colson Baker (professionally known as MGK) “made some huge life changes to be the best partner and parent that he can be.”

The timeline of this bumpy relationship dates back to March 2020, when Fox and Kelly apparently met as co-stars on the set of the indie thriller Midnight In The Switchgrass. What has followed since has, in fact, been quite messy for the stars and their fans. While many quarters of the internet opine that people should stop using babies like stopcocks to manage erratic relationships, others couldn’t care less about their unstable relationship pattern and hoped they would stick with the decision to end it for good.

Both Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have not commented about the reported breakup, despite eliciting volatile discussions on socials.

The pride of children, prejudice of parents: Keira Knightley and Peppa Pig

Keira Knightley’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy, promoting her new Netflix series Black Doves, has made her the focus of applause, as many found Knightley’s comment on having children the “most relatable thing a celebrity has ever said.” The Atonement actor avowed her love for her children, 9-year-old Eddie and 5-year-old Deliah, yet made it clear that she cannot watch any more of Peppa Pig. Quoting a snippet from the show, Knightley answered Fallon’s question on what the kids were watching, adding, “They are very cool right now. It’s really weird. They’re into, like, Studio Ghibli and like, you know, beautiful things where you’re like, ‘Oh, this is just lovely’, after seven years of Peppa Pig.”

The mention of the animated programme, a certified favourite among a larger section of the population, triggered mirth in the host and the audience.

Knightley, who is in an 11-year-long matrimony with James Righton, added, “You know that thing where you’re like, ‘Oh, you know, they’re so nice. Should we have another one?’ And you think, ‘Oh, yeah, I could do the pregnancy. I could even do the birth. But I cannot watch any more Peppa Pig. It’s not gonna happen.’”

The Pride and Prejudice star’s reaction set the internet off on a tangent, leaving netizens to ponder about their own childhoods, inextricably woven into Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol. Parents aligned in solidarity with the actor’s comment, while a select few were troubled about celebrities being prompted into revealing personal information. The discussions also had mentions about people struggling with fertility and parenting, even alluding to the infamous Blake Lively interview.

However, Knightley has been vocal about her own parenting journey, though her kids have largely been veiled from the spotlight. Quoting an AOL reportage, Knightley revealed her struggle with dyslexia and that of her daughter. “But now we have a dyslexic kid, and she’s doing the same thing. Her memory is absolutely amazing,” she added.

The Tonight Show also had the actor sharing amusing moments from home and how her kids thought she was embarrassing. Recollecting the disco party incident, Knightley mentioned having been asked by her eldest to “just go stand in the corner.” People report also mentioned that being a mom inspired the actor to sign up for Black Doves, because being a mom and so child-friendly at home, stimulated her to do something that was “a bit punk and kind of blew everything up.”

Night and days of media play: Suri Noelle and the unsubstantiated online mush

Katie Holmes has quashed reports of Suri Noelle, who recently turned 18, deriving access to a trust fund from her estranged father, Tom Cruise, that allegedly made the teen an overnight millionaire. Holmes, in a rare instance, took to her social to slam the Daily Mail article, calling it “completely false” and captioning it with a prompt “enough.”

Unsubstantiated sources claimed that Suri would gain access to a “substantial” amount when she turned 18 and the rest would only be accessible when the aforementioned turns 30.

The Dawson’s Creek star ended her six-year-long marriage with Tom Cruise in 2012 and has since lived with her daughter in New York.

The speculations appear murky when read in tow with Tom Cruise’s absence from Suri’s high school graduation earlier this year, where the teen also ditched the Cruise surname, opting to be addressed as “Suri Noelle”, which as reported by Los Angeles Times is the middle name of her mother.

Los Angeles Times had also reported that the actor had de facto skipped the graduation to hang out with celebs at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour in London. BuzzFeed also reported that Tom Cruise was photographed in public with Connor and Isabella (his kids with ex-wife, Nicole Kidman), albeit rarely. However, it has been a long time since he was seen with Suri. The internet has been quick to call out the dangerous attitude of media houses making unwarranted and invasive allegations for the sake of clicks. They have also sympathised with Katie, who has mostly turned a blind eye to tabloids, having to step up to defend her daughter.

Donald Trump Jr. and the curious case of socialites and ambassadors

In other news, Trump Jr. (a little too old to be called a kid, yet known for his name-sake and blood-ties to the American president-elect) has been flamed online for flaunting his alleged relationship with the Florida socialite Bettina Anderson and the event being in compliance with his father naming his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as the US ambassador to Greece.

The timing of the move is what has caught the attention of netizens amidst an avalanche of photographs released by the British tabloid, The Daily Mail. The New York Times reported that “Andrew Surabian, a spokesperson for Trump [Jr.], 46, did not return a request for comment on his relationship with Anderson, or on his engagement with Guilfoyle, to whom he has been betrothed since late 2020. Anderson, 38, also did not return requests for comment.” The curious omission of any mention of Guilfoyle’s relationship and merely calling her “a close friend and ally” is of interest.

The pictures, apparently from Anderson’s thirty-eighth birthday celebrations at Palm Beach, supported by multiple sightings of the new couple on the block, have almost confirmed Trump Jr’s fissured relationship with Guilfoyle.

The outlet also published snaps of a birthday card that read: “Many have said that you’re ageing out, but I think you’re perfect.”

Bettina Anderson, an influencer, philanthropist, and model, is a “typical stay-at-home mom” who is without husband and children and does not do household chores, according to her Instagram bio. The internet has been fixated on the card, trying to read into it; different connotative meanings of the man are a red flag. Others have been calling out the fact that Guilfoyle was shipped out to cover up the scandal.
