It was recently revealed that director Sam Mendes is planning four separate movies on The Beatles, each of the films from the point of view of each member of the legendary band -- Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
In a recent interaction between Christopher Nolan and Ridley Scott on Gladiator II at the Directors Guild of America in L.A, the latter let slip that Paul Mescal, who plays Lucius, the son of Russell Crowe's Maximus from the first Gladiator, is involved in the Beatles films although which one of the four films he is going to be in isn't yet clear.
Scott revealed the information when asked by Nolan whether Mescal would star in Scott's upcoming project, a thriller named The Dog Stars, to which the 86-year-old veteran said it would be doubtful considering Mescal's "stacked up" roster and that he is "doing the Beatles next."
However, there has been no confirmation on Mescal's casting from Sony Pictures, the studio backing the mammoth Sam Mendes project.
Mescal, too, has opted not to comment on rumours of his involvement, as evident from his recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, in which he said it would be "an incredible story to attach to" and that working with Sam Mendes would be a dream come true. However, when asked how he felt about playing Paul McCartney, he replied, "No, no, no -- we're not going there."
Last month, Ringo Starr had confirmed that Barry Keoghan will be playing him in the biopic.
