The recent arrest, and subsequent release of Allu Arjun, the star of Pushpa 2: The Rule, has not deterred the film's meteoric rise, as reflected in its box office collections.

According to Sacnilk, the film saw a whopping 73 per cent increase on Saturday, bringing in Rs 63 crore. On Sunday, the Sukumar directorial collected Rs 75 crore, more than the total box office earnings of the Tamil film Kanguva in India. As of now, the Telugu flick’s total collection in India has been brought up to Rs 900.5 crore.

In comparison, the first instalment of the series, Pushpa: The Rise earned Rs 350 crore in its lifetime collection, nearly three times less than the current film’s earnings.

Currently, Pushpa 2 holds the position of the eighth highest-grossing Bollywood film, and ranks fourth among the highest-grossing Telugu films, behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), RRR (2022), and Kalki 2898 AD (2024). With Kalki 2898 AD having earned Rs 1042.25 crore during its nine-week run, it is highly likely that Pushpa 2 will soon overtake the Nag Ashwin directorial.

The third instalment of the film, Pushpa 3: The Rampage was announced, and though details of the plot have not been revealed, actor Vijay Deverakonda is the rumoured antagonist of the film.
