Actor Mukesh Khanna's recent comments have provoked the ire of Sonakshi Sinha, following which slammed him in an Instagram post. The issue revolves around Khanna referring, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, to an embarrassing ordeal of Sonakshi Sinha when she took part in an old episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) where, when asked by Amitabh Bachchan for whom it was that Hanuman brought the sanjeevani, she didn't have an answer.
In the interview, Khanna stressed the importance of having Shaktimaan as a guide for today's generation, recalling an old instance of a female celebrity's lack of knowledge of the Ramayana. When the interviewer asked if he was referring to Sonakshi, he replied in the affirmative, adding that today's kids have become so modern and that it was her "father's (Shatrughan Sinha) fault, not hers."
Responding to this jibe, Sonakshi wrote on Instagram that despite there being "two women on the hot seat that day who did not know the answer to the same question," Khanna chose to "keep taking my name, and only my name, for reasons which are quite obvious."
Adding further, she said there are lessons from Ramayana that Khanna has forgotten. "Yes, I may have blanked out that day, a human tendency, and forgotten who the sanjeevani booti was brought for, but clearly, you have also forgotten some of the lessons of forgive and forget taught by Lord Ram himself... if Lord Ram can forgive Manthara, if he can forgive Kaikeyi... if he can even forgive Ravan after the great battle was done, surely you can let go of this tiny thing in comparison.. not that I need your forgiveness. But yes, I definitely need you to forget and stop bringing up the same incident time and again to be back in the news at the expense of me and my family."
She concluded her statement by reminding Khanna that it's because of "the values her father has instilled" in her that she chose to be very respectful in her statement despite the "distasteful" manner in which Khanna remarked about her upbringing. She signed off with, "I wish you well, thanks and regards, Sonakshi Sinha."
