Mollywood actress Meena Ganesh passes away at 81 | 5 must-watch movies of late Malayalam artist

Veteran actress Meena Ganesh passed away at her residence in Ottapalam, Palakkad on Thursday morning. According to Manorama News, the 81-year-old was undergoing treatment at a private hospital after suffering a stroke five days ago.

Meena was born on January 1, 1942, in Palakkad’s Kallekulangara. She is the daughter of Tamil actor K.P. Kesavan. At the age of 19, she began her career as a theatre actor through the Koppam Brothers Arts Club.

She made her film debut in P. A. Backer’s Manimuzhakkam (1976) in a small role. She gained recognition for playing the role of Pathumma in Suresh Unnithan’s Mukhachithram (1991), acting alongside big names like Jayaram, Urvashi, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, KPAC Lalitha, Sunitha and Jagadheesh.

Meena has appeared in almost 109 movies, credited in films like Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Manichithrathazhu, Achan Kombathu Amma Varampathu, Valliettan, and Ammakkilikoodu. She has also acted in TV serials like Geethanjali, Minnukettu, and Kalyanaveeran to name a few.

The actress was married to popular theatre artist and film actor the late A.N. Ganesh. Meena is survived by her two children Manoj Ganesh and Sangeetha.
