The cast of Stranger Things has officially wrapped up the shooting for their fifth and final season. Streaming platform Netflix announced the news on Friday night, adding that the series will be released in 2025.
Millie Bobby Brown, who plays El on the show, posted an emotional farewell video on her Instagram, in which she addressed the cast and crew. “I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys,” she said tearfully. I love each and every one of you and will forever carry the memories we have created together as a family. I love you. Thank you.”
Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, also shared a post on Instagram featuring a picture of the main cast from season 1, captioned, “I’m still in shock. We shot it for a year and I’ll miss all of my friends and our characters terribly... I hope you’ll love this season as much as I do. See you all next year.”
Ross Duffer, one half of the Duffer Brothers, creators of the show, also posted a lengthy message on Instagram, reflecting on how the cast, who were just 10-11 years old when they joined the production, have grown into adults and become a family. “We couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve accomplished. We can’t wait to share it with you all next year. Until then—over and out,” he concluded.
Stranger Things premiered on July 15, 2016. The show, set in the 1980s in Hawkins, Indiana, features a group of kids who are terrorised by a mysterious disappearance and unexplained supernatural activities that haunt their town. The show became a massive hit worldwide, catapulting the young stars – Brown, Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Sadie Sink – into fame.
