A year after they got engaged, millionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will marry his fiancée Lauren Sanchez in an extravagant $600 million wedding in Aspen, Colorado, on December 28, according to reports.
While the picture-perfect marriage with a Christmas theme is going to be a lavish and star-studded affair with the presence of A-listers including Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Queen Rania of Jordan, many wonder whether it will beat the grand Bollywood-esque wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, held earlier this year.
As per media reports, the Ambani weddings, which saw over 800 guests flying to Jam Nagar and Mumbai, cost $600 million. Pop star Rihanna who performed during the wedding celebrations, was reportedly paid $6 million, while the Italy-France celebrations, which had Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli, the Backstreet Boys and Pitbull performing, cost $150 million.
The Bezoz wedding is expected to be even lavish though the duo have remained mum on their wedding plans. "They're planning an extravagant ceremony and are sparing no expense in creating a white Christmas affair," Town and Country quoted an insider said. "The wedding will reportedly feature "festive décor, twinkling lights, and holiday charm."
There are also reports that they have brought out Matsuhisa, an upscale sushi restaurant in Aspen with a seating a maximum of 180 guests.
"You’d outsource pretty much everything except transportation and lighting," said Janie Lemons, an Aspen events planner whose weddings often cost more than $1 million, told Daily Mail. "They’ll cherry-pick their favourite things from around the world and fly them into Aspen, whether it’s a cake from Paris, a hairstylist from New York, or a string band from LA," said another high-end Aspen planner Sarah Rose Attman told the UK-based publication.
Not surprising since Sanchez was proposed by Bezoz aboard his $500 million superyacht in May 2023. Soon, Sánchez was seen sporting a cushion-cut 30 carats-diamond ring estimated to cost between $3 and $5 million.
