The film, starring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron, is an adaptation of Homer's epic poem, 'Odyssey'

After the success of his Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer, director Christopher Nolan is all set to embark on his next directorial journey. On Monday, Universal Pictures announced the title and release date of Nolan’s next feature, slated to be released on July 17, 2026. The film, titled The Odyssey will be adapted from Homer’s epic poem of the same name.

Like Oppenheimer, this film will be captured for the IMAX screens, providing an immersive experience to the audience.

Homer's Odyssey is one of the most celebrated pieces of literature. It follows the tale of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and his long journey back home after the ten-year-long Trojan War. During his treacherous travel, he has one aim—to get back home to his wife and son. The epic, like its precursor, The Iliad, which details the end of the Trojan War, is divided into 24 books.

This is not Nolan's first attempt at a movie adaptation of literature. The director had earlier adapted Christopher Priest's The Prestige, the story of two rival magicians. He is also known for his infamous take on the DC Comics character Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy
