Crown City Academy of Film & Television (CCAFT), Jammu and Kashmir's first film academy, has opened in Jammu. This marks an important step in the region's pursuit of a dedicated film training institute.
The academy aims to fulfil the aspirations of those seeking careers in creativity and film.
It is the brainchild of filmmaker, line producer and entrepreneur Atul Vinod Duggal.
Founded through Duggal's Software & Services Pvt. Ltd. and AVD Motion Pictures, CCAFT seeks to promote the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir while providing comprehensive film education rooted in theory and practical application.
According to an official of CCAFT, the institute offers various skill-based courses that align with current industry demands. Students can explore graphic design, acting, video editing and social media.
These courses are designed to equip aspiring creatives with the skills needed to thrive in the entertainment sector.
The institute academy features faculty members from the media industry who mentor students and provide critical insights into real-world filmmaking.
This blend of academic learning and hands-on training ensures graduates are well-prepared for professional careers.
CCAFT boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including fully equipped studios, sound recording and dubbing suites, a shooting floor, post-production studios, and advanced editing suites.
The broader goal of CCAFT is to enhance Jammu and Kashmir’s film production capacity. By training skilled professionals, the academy aims to foster local production and create job opportunities in the region.
The academy’s affiliation with the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) ensures that students receive government-recognised certifications.
CCAFT collaborates with local filmmakers and creative organisations, facilitating internships and real-world projects. This partnership approach provides students with valuable industry experience while supporting the region’s artistic community.
As the first film school in Jammu and Kashmir, CCAFT is poised to transform the local cultural and cinematic landscape, bringing the region’s diverse stories and unique voices to national and international audiences.
