After a long 8-year legal dispute, Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finalised their divorce on Monday. It was announced in 2016 that they would part ways.
Jolie’s lawyer James Simon confirmed the news to People Magazine, and said, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."

A source close to Jolie also told the magazine, "She doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately. She’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time."
Pitt’s representatives have not yet spoken on the matter.

Jolie vs Pitt: From power couple to incompatible
Brangelina was one of the most powerful Hollywood couples, idolised as the picture-perfect pair. Though they seemingly had a good run in their relationship, it was a rocky start for them both.
Jolie and Pitt met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith (2005) during its filming in 2004, which is where the romance is rumoured to have blossomed. This was a hot take as Pitt was, at the time, married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

Aniston and Pitt announced their separation the same year the movie came out. A year later Jolie and Pitt had their first child together, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, making it Jolie’s third child. Jolie adopted the first two – Maddox and Zahara – in 2002 and 2005 respectively.
The couple later adopted their fourth child, Pax, from Vietnam in 2007, and in 2008, gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne, completing their big family of eight.
After years of marriage rumours (and also revelations that Pitt cheated on Jolie as cited in Ian Halperin's book Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), wedding bells began to ring for the couple as they tied the knot in France in 2014.
In 2016, a shocking announcement emerged. Jolie disclosed that she had filed divorce from the Se7en actor, citing “irreconcilable differences”. According to reports, the decision came a few days after the couple's brawling session, which turned into a physical altercation in front of their children.
