Apple seems to have finally paid heed to its loyal fans' suggestion of promoting its content more. The tech giant has announced that their streaming platform Apple TV+ will be globally offering free streaming of its diverse catalogue of films and shows from January 3 to 5.
The offer is available on any device that has Apple TV+ installed with an Apple ID. The stand-alone subscription — a bundle package comprising music, video games, cloud storage and other services — usually costs $9.99 a month (₹99.00 in India).
Among the available Apple properties are its various originals and their latest seasons, including the dystopian sci-fi series Silo, the corporate sci-fi drama Severance, the comedy dramas Ted Lasso, Shrinking and Bad Sisters; the legal crime drama Presumed Innocent and the espionage thriller Slow Horses, and Alfonso Cuaron's non-linear mystery series Disclaimer.
In addition, the free service also includes shows such as Dark Matter, For All Mankind and Foundation and movies such as Fly Me to the Moon, Wolfs and The Instigators.
Apple TV+ launched in November 2019 and has been the home for multiple high-profile projects in the short and long-form storytelling format.
Filmmakers like Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese found backing for their acclaimed films when other streaming giants failed to show interest.
Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon and Scott's Napoleon were nominated in several categories in the last Academy Awards and Golden Globes.
During the last Golden Globes, Apple TV+ shows like Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Lessons in Chemistry, and The Morning Show had multiple nominations.
