Nearly 12 years after the release of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the much-loved rom-com has re-entered theatres, sparking excitement among fans.
The film, which hit the screens on Friday, January 3, was launched in a limited number of theatres throughout the country – 140 PVR INOX Cinemas in 46 cities. The film was also re-released in the UK. While neighbouring states Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have multiple screenings across numerous theatres, Kerala seems to lack.

As per the ticketing platform BookMyShow, the Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone-starrer is being screened at one theatre in the state – Forum Mall, Kochi. The tickets for the show, being screened at 04:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, have completely sold out, evidently proving the popularity of the Ayan Mukerji directorial in the southern state.
According to reports, the movie is projecting a Rs 3 crore opening, with over 25,000 tickets sold in advance booking.
About ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’
The film follows Naida, a straight-A student who embarks on an impromptu trekking trip with her classmates. She meets Bunny, whose dream is to wander and discover the world. Naida starts to develop feelings for Bunny but keeps it hidden as he reveals at the end of the trip that got accepted into the school of journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago. They part ways but reunite eight years later.
Aside from Padukone and Kapoor, the film also features Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur. Originally released on May 31, 2013, it was a commercial success, grossing Rs 188 crore at the box office against the Rs 40 crore budget.
