Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films has confirmed that actor Akshay Kumar will return to the company's horror-comedy universe through Stree 3, which will see Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor reprising their roles from the last two films.

Akshay appeared in Stree 2 in a surprise cameo as an inmate at a mental asylum who is visited by the principal characters to figure out a solution to a major problem.

When the actor was asked if he is returning to Stree 3, he first teased his return by suggesting that the decision is up to producers Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande and that he would love it if Amar Kaushik returned to direct.

Dinesh Vijan then confirmed that the actor, whose presence he likened to Thanos of the Avengers movie saga, hinted that he will be back in a much bigger part in Stree 3.

Recently, Maddock Films announced their upcoming slate of 8 theatrical films that would introduce new characters and have crossovers from multiple characters in each of these films.

Stree 3 will hit theatres on August 13, 2027.

Dinesh Vijan was speaking at an event to launch the trailer of Maddock Films' Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar and debutant Veer Pahariya.

Sky Force is a big-scale enactment of the Indo-Pak air war of 1965 that revolves around India's historic airstrike on Pakistan's Sargodha airbase. It has Akshay and Veer essaying Air Force officers, in addition to Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and Sharad Kelkar in key roles.
