Nearly a decade after her Telugu debut in Bhale Manchi Roju, actor Wamiqa Gabbi is back to Telugu cinema, announcing that she has joined the cast of G2, the sequel to the hit action thriller Goodachari

Adivi Sesh, who wrote the script and starred in the first film, is doing the same in the second.

A big-budget espionage thriller, G2 aims to expand the scale with higher stakes and international locations and is directed by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi. The first film was directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka.

Wamiqa has been getting considerable attention in Bollywood after working with filmmakers such as Vishal Bhardwaj (in Khufiya) and Vikramaditya Motwane (in the Prime Video series Jubilee).

She also became a popular name in Malayalam cinema after her debut in the sports-drama Godha, co-starring Tovino Thomas.

In the first-look poster of G2 featuring her character, Wamiqa and Adivi pose against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It gives the impression that Wamiqa is playing another agent engaged in the action, assisting Adivi Sesh's character, Arjun alias Agent Gopi 116.

Produced by T G Vishwa Prasad and Abhishek Agarwal under the banners People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts, and AK Entertainments, G2 also stars Emraan Hashmi, Madhu Shalini, and Supriya Yarlagadda.

Emraan is said to be playing the principal antagonist. G2 is the actor's second Telugu film aside from OG, headlined by Pawan Kalyan. Emraan plays a gangster in the film. A first-look poster was released early last year.

Last seen in Major and HIT: The Second Case, Adivi Sesh also has in the pipeline another thriller titled Dacoit, co-written by him and starring Mrunal Thakur as the female lead.
