Social media has become abuzz with activity after a Censor certificate titled 'Jailer 2 theatrical announcement promo' video was revealed, leading many to surmise that the sequel for the Rajnikanth blockbuster is indeed happening.
Rated UA 16+, the promo is seemingly coming out in two versions — 2.23 min and 4.3 min — and will be launched at 6 pm on January 14, on the occasion of Pongal.
Interestingly, Sun Pictures, the production house bankrolling the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial, teased earlier about their next 'Super' saga with the font resembling that of the iconic 'Super Star Rajni' title that flashes before every 'thalaivar' movie.
Sharing the update video, the official 'X' handle of Sun Pictures captioned it:
"Time to set the theatres on fire. Get ready to witness the high-octane Announcement Teaser of Sun Pictures' next Super Saga. Special screening in select Theatres and releasing on YouTube on Jan 14, 6 pm! Stay tuned for the theatre list! #SunPictures #TheSuperSaga"
They later shared a list of theatres scheduled to screen the promo on the said date. They are:

Jailer also starred Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Mirna, and Vasanth Ravi in addition to high-voltage guest appearances from Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar. It also featured brief appearances from Sunil, Jackie Shroff and Tamannaah Bhatia.
Anirudh Ravichander, who composed the hit soundtrack for the film, will be returning for the sequel too.
Adding to the fun, Nelson and Anirudh shared a screenshot of flight tickets with cryptic numbers and labels hinting at their collaboration with Sun Pictures.
