Suriya-Vetrimaaran's 'Vaadivaasal' to roll soon?

'Vaadivaasal' is based on the novel of the same name by C. S. Chellappa, a story that revolves around a man with a tragic past participating in a Jallikkattu contest

Ever since the announcement three years ago that Vetrimaaran and Suriya will work together for the first time, fans have been waiting eagerly to see some activity on the production side of Vaadivaasal.

A while ago, Vetrimaaran and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu dismissed rumours about the film getting shelved. Now, the latter has shared a picture of himself with Suriya and Vetrimaaran, confirming that the film is indeed going into production.

In the picture he shared on his social media handle, the producer hinted that filming is set to commence soon.

The makers had once shared a video titled 'Not a Teaser', showing Suriya rehearsing for a Jallikkattu sequence. Vetrimaaran had once hinted that he would begin work on the film only after completing Viduthalai-Part 2.

Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations, the film sees Vetrimaaran reuniting with his frequent cinematographer, R Velraj, who worked on both the Viduthalai films. GV Prakash Kumar is the composer.

Vaadivaasal is based on the novel of the same name by C. S. Chellappa, a story that revolves around a man with a tragic past participating in a Jallikkattu contest. It revolves around events spanning a couple of generations and explores themes of power, pride, vengeance, and perseverance.

Aside from Vaadivaasal, Vetrimaaran has also signed another film with Dhanush, backed by RS Infotainment, the company that bankrolled the Viduthalai films.

Meanwhile, Suriya's next film, Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is gearing up for a May 1 release. As the title suggests, the film is supposedly a retro-flavoured action drama promising "love, laughter and war" that also features Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Prakash Raj, Nassar,  Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sandeep Raj, Murugavel, and Ramya Suresh, among others.
