Chrissy Teigen accuses Trump of manipulation over TikTok Ban

Teigen took to Instagram to express her disappointment. In one of her recent Instagram posts, she shared that she believes such a ban could be politically motivated

Chrissy Teigen, a model and television personality has taken to social media to express her outrage over the TikTok ban, labeling former President Donald Trump as the mastermind to become the savior, especially to the youth.

The popular social media application, TikTok, has been scrutinised in the United States for supposed connections with China's plans to collect information regarding the country. Recently, it was pulled out of Google Play and the App Store on Apple due to a huge uproar.

This led Teigen to use Instagram to express herself. In one of her recent Instagram posts, she shared that she believes such a ban could be a political action. "Okay Let's talk TikTok. Everyone's bummed, 'OMG, I can't believe it's shut down'. But it's not going to be shut down forever".

She further speculated that the app would eventually make a comeback but with a twist, under Trump’s leadership. “TikTok is on a hiatus for now, but it’s going to come back. And it’s going to come back under Trump’s leadership. And every young person is going to be like, ‘OMG, I’m so grateful he brought it back. He brought back free speech.’”

Teigen believes that if the ban is lifted, and TikTok is restored, Trump would take credit for the resurrection of the application by portraying himself to young Americans as a hero. "It gets to be claimed by him as this amazing thing he did for the people, and you are all going to fall right into it," she said.

Her comments resonate with many other voices in the entertainment industry and social media who ask whether the ban is politically motivated or part of a larger strategy to influence public perception. Teigen, known for her outspoken views, has long used her platform to address political and social issues, and her comments on the TikTok situation are no exception.

As the contentious issue of the TikTok ban took centre stage and ignited serious debates on freedom of speech and government interference in digital spaces, many people have said that such measures target the platform’s younger, creative users. Further developments remain to be seen in how the public will react to this emerging saga: whether Trump might claim a role in reviving the app.
