Amid speculations of a possible One Direction reunion, fans at Zayn Malik’s L.A. concert, part of his Stairway to the Sky tour, were ecstatic to learn that his “old friend” Louis Tomlinson was in attendance as well.
“So tonight's kind of special, an old friend of mine is here to support me tonight. He’s somewhere here,” the singer said, gesturing toward a general area. “I don’t want to give his location away, but Louis’ here tonight,” Malik said, prompting loud cheers from fans.

This is the first time Malik and Tomlinson have been spotted together since the funeral of their One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, who tragically passed away last October after falling off the balcony of an Argentine hotel.

Talks of a reunion have been buzzing since the band went on a hiatus in 2016, just a few months after Malik announced his departure from the boy band in 2015. And while fans will never get the chance to see all five members together on stage again, owing to Payne’s passing, they remain hopeful that the remaining four – Malik, Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan – may take the stage together again. Rumours are swirling that the four will reunite at the 2025 Brit Awards, though the fact remains to be seen.
Skyway to the Sky is Malik’s debut solo concert tour, despite having performed solo since the release of the 2016 song Pillowtalk. The tour commenced in England, on November 23, 2024, and is set to conclude on March 28, 2025, in Mexico.
