Malayalam actor Siddique invited a young actress to his hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram with wrongful intentions, Kerala police has reportedly said in its charge-sheet in the rape case against the actor.

The Mollywood actor, who is facing charges for allegedly raping a young actress from the industry in 2016, had refuted the charges. Manorama Online reported that as per the charge-sheet which would be filed by the Special Investigation Team probing sexual harassment in Malayalam cinema, there is evidence against the actor in the incident. The incident, which allegedly happened in 2016,  came to light after the Kerala government released the Hema committee report in August last year.

According to Kerala police, there is evidence for the actor inviting the actress and her family for a movie preview in 2016. Police have collected digital evidence for the actress’s visit and stay at the hotel, the publication reported. According to police, the victim had revealed about the incident even before the release of the report and there are statements for it. Police also said the victim took treatment with a doctor in Kochi soon after the incident and they have recorded the medical practitioner’s statement.

The Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to the actor in the case taking note that the complaint was registered against Siddique only eight years after the incident. The bench noted the victim also did not appear before the Hema committee. The actor was later arrested by the SIT and released on regular bail.

The Kerala government formed the three-member committee led by former justice K. Hema to study exploitation and harassment faced by women in Malayalam cinema. Though the committee submitted its report in 2019, a redacted version of the report was released only in 2024. A SIT was formed to probe sexual assault complaints that surfaced after the release of the report and statements mentioned in the report.
