Samay Raina has remained silent amidst the storm over the latest episode of his show India’s Got Latent. Currently in Canada for a stand-up comedy tour, Raina posted on his YouTube channel, not a video, but a message to his fans who are a part of his ‘members-only’ subscription.

Raina posted no words, but two emojis – a red heart and a hugging emoji. Despite being shared just a little before midnight on his ‘members-only’ platform, it was quickly met with positive reception as the post garnered nearly 10,000 likes in less than four minutes.

Many fans were quick to share their support, one person posting on X (formerly Twitter), “If he had posted to public it would have more likes [sic]”. On Reddit, many fans speculated that he might have wanted to share a video, but chose not to, fearing the legal complications related to the cases against him.

Raina was summoned by both Mumbai and Assam Police for questioning. His legal team requested an extension to his appearance, as he will return to the country on March 15. The Mumbai Police has granted him time till March 10.

Raina’s dark comedy show India’s Got Latent came under fire when guest judge Ranveer Allahbadia posed a lewd question to one of the contestants: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

His comment led to a chain of events, with cases filed against Raina, Allahbadia and the other guest judges – Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija – by both the Mumbai and Assam Police, Raina deleting all videos of India’s Got Latent episodes on YouTube, while Allahbadia alleged to have received death threats.

On February 12, Raina posted on X that the mental load of the case had been heavy on him and that he would fully cooperate with the authorities.
