The new release date now falls just two weeks apart from Christopher Nolan’s next directorial project, The Odyssey. Scheduled to release on July 17, 2026, Holland will also star in this film, along with his Spider-Man co-star and rumoured fiancée Zendaya, though it is unclear whether the actress will be a part of the fourth instalment of the Spider-Man franchise.
Holland last portrayed the role of Spider-Man in the 2021 film No Way Home, which featured surprise appearances from previous actors who took on the role of the web-slinging superhero – Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. All of Holland’s previous Spider-Man films were directed by Jon Watt, including, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Cretton is also working on directing the next Shang-Chi film and is also currently involved in the post-production phase of the MCU television miniseries Wonder Man. Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, who co-wrote the screenplay for No Way Home, will also pen the script for the new.
