Film’s biggest night is almost here. With the awards seasons underway, the highly anticipated 97th edition of the Academy Awards will take place on March 3 in India. The event will take place at California’s Dolby Theatre located in Hollywood.
So, where can viewers in India tune in to watch the star-studded night? JioHotstar – a recent merger between Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinemas – announced that the ceremony will be available for viewing from 5:30 am IST and is expected to run for three hours.
Who’s hosting?
After two consecutive years of hosting, comedian Jimmy Kimmel has passed the baton to another fellow comedian, Conan O’Brien. Talking to The New York Times, the 61-year-old expressed his excitement about hosting, saying, “It’s the thing I wake up and think about at night: What’s the best way to tackle this? How? In a way that makes me creatively happy?”
“What we love about Conan and his style is that he always comes up with something unexpected, and we’re going to pepper that through the show,” Oscars executive producer Raj Kapoor said.
Who’s presenting the golden statue?
Joe Alwyn, Ana de Armas, Sterling K. Brown, Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Robert Downey Jr., Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Cillian Murphy, Connie Nielsen, Amy Poehler, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Ben Stiller, June Squibb, Emma Stone, Oprah Winfrey, and Bowen Yang are the line-up selected to present the coveted golden statue to the winners of the 97th Academy Awards.
Who’s nominated?
Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez leads this year’s nominations with 13 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. Right behind the musical-crime film are Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist and Jon M Chu’s Wicked with 10 nominations each.
