When Drive to Survive first premiered in 2019, documenting the 2018 Formula One World Championship, it gave fans of the sport an unprecedented look into the inner workings and gossip of the racing world. Highlighting the struggles of each team and their efforts to overcome them to Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton winning his fifth Drivers’ World Championship, it quickly became a fan favourite among existing fans and attracted new ones to the sport.

Fast forward six years, Netflix is now releasing the seventh season of the show, covering the 2024 Formula One World Championship. The new season of Drive to Survive releases on March 7, with ten episodes packed with pure adrenaline. This season will be very different from the prior. The 2023 Formula One World Championship saw Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominate, securing his third title. And while Verstappen did win his fourth consecutive championship in the 2024 season, it was especially challenging for him, as he failed to maintain the same win streaks he held on to previously.

Season 7 will track key moments leading up to the battle for the title, along with bombshell news that broke during each race weekend – starting from the Bahrain Grand Prix to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. From Hamilton’s bombshell transfer from his long-time love Mercedes to Ferrari, replacing Carlos Sainz, to Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri leading McLaren to end its 26-year winless streak, dominating the Constructors’ Championship, Drive to Survive season 7 will have a lot to unpack.

Other key events include Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc breaking the curse to win his home race, Monaco, Daniel Ricciardo officially leaving Formula 1 after being dropped mid-season, Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez getting replaced after poor performance and Alpine’s historic and shocking double podium with Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

This season will also uncover off-track drama involving long-time Red Bull team principal Christian Horner who was accused of “inappropriate behaviour” by a female employee.

Drive to Survive season 7 is now available for streaming on Netflix, one week ahead of the start of the 2025 Formula One World Championship in Australia.
