Nearly six years after the release of Siddharth Anand’s film War, the highly anticipated sequel will make its way to theatres soon. Yash Raj Film (YRF), bankrolling the action-thriller, revealed that the film, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR will hit the big screens on August 14, just in time for Independence Day weekend.
The production house announced the news on their social media, heightening fans' excitement. While the fans were ecstatic, many sharing their congratulation and foreseeing the film as a “blockbuster”, they also urged the to release more – a trailer or a snippet from the movie.

Additionally, fans are crossing their fingers, hoping to see cameos from Tiger and Pathaan, an appearance they are sure will elevate the film and set the premise for the future film Tiger vs Pathaan.
Though Anand helmed the first movie, Ayan Mukerji will take the reins on this one. Kiara Advani will also play a significant role in the film. War 2 is the next instalment in YRF’s Spy Universe, two years after the release of Tiger 3. Shridhar Raghavan has penned the script based on a story by Aditya Chopra.

War was a Bollywood blockbuster, minting Rs 475 crore against a budget of Rs 170 crore. War 2 is the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe after debuting with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor-led Ek Tha Tiger in 2012.
Another Spy Universe film is also slated for a release this year. The flick, titled Alpha, will be the franchise’s first female-led film, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari.
