Celebrities react to Sunita Williams touching down on Earth after nine months

Chiranjeevi, R. Madhavan, Jackie Shroff, and Manushi Chhiilar greeted the Crew-9 astronauts after a "nail-biting" nine months in space aboard the ISS

The world is celebrating today as astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore landed back on Earth after an unexpected nine-month stay in space. After launching in June 2024 and a subsequent thruster malfunction that left them stranded, the pair splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday.

Bollywood actors are also reacting to the Indian-born American astronaut Williams' safe landing back on Earth. Telugu actor Chiranjeevi took to X (formerly Twitter) to greet the astronauts back to Earth and called their unplanned adventure a "nail-biting thriller" while also appreciating SpaceX for safely returning them to Earth.

Chiranjeevi was last seen in Meher Ramesh directorial Bhola Shankar (2023). His next film, Vishwambharahelmed and penned by Mallidi Vassishta, is due for release this year.

Actor R. Madhavan also welcomed the astronaut on his Instagram. As the Crew-9 took off from the ISS, he shared in his story, "Praying for your safe return. I'm sure it'll be a wonderful evening with your family and all your friends." After touching down on Earth, he posted a video of Williams exiting her capsule, greeting her back after many "uncertain days".

Madhavan was last seen in Ashwni Dhir's Hisaab Barabar and is currently preparing for the release of his new Netflix cricket drama, Test.

Jackie Shroff shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) of the Crew-9's space capsule slowly descending onto the Atlantic waters, highlighting Williams' "unwavering resilience".

Jackie Shroff was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again and Kalee's Baby John.

Actress Manushi Chhiilar shared a video on X of Crew-10 arriving on board the ISS as a replacement for the astronauts. They are seen embracing each other in hugs, Chhiilar writing, "Moments like these define humanity!"

The Miss World winner will star opposite John Abraham in the new film Tehran, slated for release this year.
