L2: Empuraan has finally hit the big screen and it is safe to say that no one is calm. Six years after the release of its predecessor, Lucifer, Prithviraj Sukumaran delivered a sequel that started screening in Kerala theatres as early as 6 am today (March 27).
Audiences are thrilled to see the ensemble cast on-screen – Mohanlal alongside Prithviraj, Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Suraj Venjaramoodu, also featuring international stars like Andrea Tivadar, Jerome Flynn, and Eriq Ebouaney.
Now, as people exit the theatres, many call it “a Hollywood-level film” with well-executed cinematography. One user called the film “okayish”, commenting that the film's runtime could have been shorter but lauded the “presence” of Mohanlal and Warrier.

Another online critic mentioned that the screenplay fell flat and was not on par with the first film but that Empuraan was “technically top-notch”.

One user wrote that the story was predictable with “weak” music, but acknowledged that the reason for dissatisfaction would have likely stemmed from the massive hype and high expectations placed on the sequel.

Trying his best to avoid the spoilers, one viewer shared that while Empuraan and Lucifer do not deliver the same, the theatre experience is evidently present, praising Murali Gopy who penned the film.
#Empuraan is so so built on the content, conflict, scale and power politics. It might not be a fan service like Lucifer, but a perfect theater experience 🔥🔥
