What was supposed to be a joyous day for Vikram fans has now taken a turn. S. U. Arun Kumar directorial Veera Dheera Sooran landed in hot water on the day of its big release (March 27). Reports indicate that television network B4U filed a petition with the Delhi High Court to stall the release of the film until the legal dispute between them and the film’s production company is resolved.

According to News18, B4U claims that Riya Shibu of HR Pictures was in talks with the platform for giving them the OTT streaming rights but the release of the film proceeded before the deal could be finalised. Subsequently, the release was halted, resulting in the cancellation of the early morning shows across India, also affecting overseas screening. The HC has ordered the makers to pay Rs 7 crore within 48 hours.
Now, the publication has reported that the film will face a four week delay. Additionally, B4U also claimed that a legal notice was issued to the production prior to the release, while the promotion of the film was underway. The court will hear the case on Thursday.
Veera Dheera Sooran, officially titled Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, is Vikram’s 62nd film. The film chronicles an action-packed night in Madurai where Kaali, a store owner, gets involved in the dangerous criminal world. Alongside Vikram, the film also stars S. J. Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dushara Vijayan and Siddique.
A prequel to the film, Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 1, will go into production soon. Veera Dheera Sooran marks Suraj’s Tamil debut while the actor also has the much-anticipated release of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan today.
