Neeraj Ghaywan's ‘Homebound’ to premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2025

‘Homebound’ marks Neeraj Ghaywan's second film to be featured in the Un Certain Regard category, a decade after his directorial debut ‘Masaan’. ‘Homebound’ features Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles

Ten years after his debut directorial got featured in Cannes Film Festival, Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound will head to the prestigious Parisian carpet again, selected by the committee to be featured in the Un Certain Regard category. Homebound, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, features Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Khatter wrote, “We are honoured to announce that #Homebound makes its way to the official selection at the 78th edition of the Festival De Cannes in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category.”

“A film that I knew was special from the moment it entered my life and my most challenging part yet. This is what dreams are made of,” he continued.   

His co-star Kapoor also shared her excitement on social media, writing, “A moment where Indian cinema takes over the world... Our hearts are full and we can't wait to show you all this journey on the big screens!”

Homebound will be joined by Scarlett Johannson’s directorial debut film Eleanor the Great in Un Certain Regard. Other films competing in the category include Aisha Can't Fly Away by Morad Mostafa, The Last One for the Road by Francesco Sossai, Meteors by Hubert Charuel, The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo by Diego Céspedes, My Father's Shadow by Akinola Davies Jr, Once Upon A Time In Gaza by Tarzan Nasser and Arab Nasser, A Pale View of the Hills by Kei Ishikawa, Pillion by Harry Lighton, Urchin by Harris Dickinson, and La Misteriosa Mirada Del Flamenco.

Ghaywan's Homebound marks a special occasion for the lead actors as it reunites Khatter and Kapoor who made their film debut together in Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak, also backed by Dharma Productions.

The Un Certain Regard section, which translates to “a certain look”, is primarily aimed at viewing films that offer a different perspective to the audience.
