Srinivas said that the AIIMS has reformed its patient care model by removing intermediaries and focusing on direct patient engagement. He said, “All our ICUs and emergency departments are now E-ICUs, utilising digital tools for efficient, high-quality care.”

He talked about the institute’s dedication to patient safety and welfare, saying that all blocks at AIIMS have received accreditation. “We are expanding our services in every manner possible,” he said, adding that the establishment of more AIIMS across India will help reduce the burden on AIIMS-Delhi.

Srinivas underscored the importance of reforms to keep pace with evolving health care demands and acknowledged that AI is doing a good job, and diagnosing diseases faster.

He thanked the Union government for choosing AIIMS-Delhi as a model institution for implementing AI in health care. “We realise its importance and will ensure that AI is applied effectively to help the requirements of our doctors and patients.”

Beyond health care, AIIMS-Delhi is committed to sustainability initiatives. “We are making AIIMS-Delhi clean and green,” Srinivas said. He talked about the introduction of electric vehicles on campus and a plan to plant 10,000 more trees in AIIMS-Delhi. “With an annual budget of Rs 4,000 crore, we are ensuring it is used effectively for the welfare of our patients and staff.”

He expressed his gratitude to THE WEEK for ranking AIIMS-Delhi as the top medical institute in India, and said, “I hope the magazine will also rate us on attributes like empathy and compassion.”

Srinivas took over as the director of AIIMS-Delhi in September 2022 for a five-year tenure. He has served as the dean of ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Hyderabad and was a professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at AIIMS-Delhi.
