The red flock of farmers, marching in protest against the Maharashtra government's failure to fulfill its promises, reached Bhiwandi on Saturday. The protest march, organised by All India Kisan Sabha, commenced on March 5 from the CBS Chowk in Central Nashik.

The farmers, distressed by poor yields and unsupporting market prices, are demanding a complete loan waiver from the state government.

The march is slated to reach Mumbai on Monday, where it is expected to to gherao at the state assembly building.

Last year, the Maharashtra government had announced a loan waiver of Rs 4,000 crore under the first phase of its farm loan waiver scheme.
