Delhi International Airport has won the Wings India Award for ‘Most Sustainable and Green Airport’, and a silver medal for its sustainable waste management initiatives in the Airports Council International's Asia-Pacific Green Airports Recognition 2018.

The Wings India Award ceremony, organised by the civil aviation ministry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), was held in Hyderabad, and the Green Airports Recognition event will be held in Japan in April.

The two green awards have come immediately following the Delhi Airport being declared by Airports Council International as the world’s number 1 airport in the highest category of more than 40 million passengers per year.

“This is the third award in one week,” said I. Prabhakara Rao, CEO of Delhi International Airport Authority Ltd. “We believe in sustainable excellence. DIAL is committed to conducting business in an environment-friendly and sustainable manner by minimising the impact on environment.”

Delhi Airport has undertaken various green initiatives such as carbon neutrality, green building programme, energy and water management, renewable energy programme and effective waste management.
