The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to order a CBI probe into the alleged rape case, in which a girl has charged BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The victim's father had died on Monday of injuries sustained while he was in police custody.
In a late night decision, after getting the Special Investigation Team report in the high profile case, the state government has decided to register cases of rape and custodial death of the victim's father against Sengar.
The government suspended circle officer Safipur, Kunwar Bahadur Singh and two doctors who were involved in examining the injured father of the victim.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has not given any information officially, but based on the SIT report, it will take disciplinary action against Sengar.
Meanwhile, after coming to know that the noose is tightening around him, MLA Sanger made an appearance at the Lucknow SSP's residence, but refused to surrender. His supporters present there also created a ruckus.
The Unnao rape case has been hogging the limelight nationally and has caused acute embarrassment to the present Yogi government.

After pressure started mounting on the government, the police arrested the MLA's brother, Atul Sengar, who is also an accused in the case.
The SIT in its preliminary investigation found Unnao police guilty of utter neglect and callous attitude in dealing with the case. It has also recommended a detailed probe into the case and removal of the present police chief of Unnao, Pushpanjali.
The SIT completed its preliminary inquiry in two and half hour after questioning persons involved in the case.
It may be recalled that Allahabad High court has taken the cognizance of the matter and will take up the case. According to sources, the SIT report will be reviewed by the court today.
