Maharashtra agriculture minister Fundkar dead

Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Pandurang Fundkar died on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at a hospital in Mumbai, an official said.

He was 67. The senior state BJP leader was inducted in the Devendra Fadnavis ministry in July, 2016. 

BJP leader Fundkar is also known as Bhausaheb Fundkar. 

He was also the leader of opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council.

His son Akash Pandurang Fundkar is an MLA from Khamgaon constituency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolence on Fundkar's death. "Saddened by the demise of Maharashtra’s Agriculture Minister Shri Pandurang Fundkar. He made an invaluable contribution towards building the BJP in Maharashtra. He was also at the forefront of serving the farmers of the state. My thoughts are with his family and supporters," Modi shared on Twitter.
