Delhi: NRI 'RSS activist' who threatened Kerala CM on Facebook arrested

A self-proclaimed RSS activist who threatened to kill Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was arrested at Delhi Airport on Tuesday on his return from the UAE.

Krishnakumar Nair, a native of Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district, was fired from his job in Abu Dhabi on June 6 after he uploaded a video on Facebook in which he threatened to kill Vijayan.

Nair was apprehended by the police at Delhi Airport where he arrived on Tuesday. A police team from Kochi will take him into their custody and bring him to Kerala by train. A lookout notice had been issued against him.

Nair had lost his job in an oil company in Abu Dhabi after his threat to Vijayan drew a slew of complaints. Nair made the threat in a Facebook Live session apparently in an inebriated state. In the video posted on the social media platform, Nair also threatened the chief minister's wife and daughter. He also identified himself as an RSS activist.

Nair was advised by the police to travel to Delhi, instead of taking a direct flight to Kerala, as he also had to face some threats after the post went viral.

In a second video post, Nair apologised for the comments he made earlier under the influence of alcohol. He said he was ready to face any penalty that the law of the land provides.
