The BJP seem to have comprehended the importance of social media in moulding public opinion. In this connection, the party strategists have decided to use Whats App, Twitter, Facebook, SMS and the internet as much as possible to reach out to a maximum number of voters in Uttar Pradesh. The party leaders feel that Modi is quite popular among the youth and today’s youth is highly tech savvy, so the use of these means will surely attract maximum number of young voters. The party has also launched a ‘Navmatdata Abhiyan’, (New voter campaign) for upcoming parliamentary polls to enrol voters who have just turned 18.

The party in UP has decided to deploy about eight lakh ‘cyber sainiks’(cyber soldiers) for the upcoming parliamentary polls to get maximum political mileage. To activate its cyber army at the booth level, the party will hold conferences all over the state starting from October 21. All the office bearers — divisional to regional areas will take part in it. The participants will be trained by the party president Mahendranath Pandey and the state general secretary Sunil Bansal. They will tell them how important social media has become in propagating the policies of the government and how an effective poll campaign can be run with the help of the cyber army.
In these conferences a training module will be developed to train about eight lakh cyber soldiers who will guard 1.63 lakh booths .
