The Pinarayi Vijayan government will call for an all-party meeting on the Sabarimala issue after the Supreme Court takes up on Tuesday petitions seeking a review of its September 28 decision that allowed entry to the hill shrine to women of all age groups.

The all-party meeting is expected to discuss preparations for the upcoming Mandalakalam pilgrimage season, which runs from mid-November to January. Travancore Devasom Board President A. Padmakumar said he was happy with the Vijayan government's move to call for an all-party meeting on the Sabarimala issue.

Earlier, leaders of the opposition Congress had demanded an all-party meeting on Sabarimala, which the Vijayan government had refused. Both the Congress and the BJP had launch protests against the Supreme Court decision on Sabarimala, with the BJP currently organising a Rath Yatra to Pathanamthitta district.

The Sabarimala Rath Yatra is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, coinciding with the Supreme Court hearing; the BJP was reportedly planning to have approximately 1 lakh people arrive for the conclusion of the Rath Yatra.
