Rajasthan polls: BJP promises 30,000 govt jobs, Rs 5,000/month to unemployed youth

BJP also promises to create 50 lakhs jobs in private sector

In the backdrop of Congress president Rahul Gandhi promising farm loan waivers within 10 days of forming government in Rajasthan, the state BJP promised to give Rs 5,000 per month as unemployment allowance to eligible youth, and create 30,000 government jobs.

With the elections just 10 days away, both the parties are in an all out effort to woo the voters. 

The BJP manifesto for Rajasthan, released by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley in Jaipur, also included sops for farmers and the youth. It had a few innovative announcements, too, like promising to include happiness index as a parameter during the policy formulation and implementations of the schemes. 

Emphasis has also been given to bringing more area under irrigation and providing water. The manifesto said efforts will be made to bring Arabian sea water to Rajasthan's Jalore district through Gujarat. An inland port will be built there.

Apart from 30, 000 government jobs, the BJP also promised to create 50 lakhs jobs in self-employment and private sectors. A separate high level commission will be set up to ensure universal basic income.

Keeping different pressure groups in mind, and apparently on advice of the Sangh, 10 new boards will be set up across the states. These will include Yoga board, Bhagwan Parsuram, Rajasthan Vedic studies board, and separate boards for artisans, economically weaker sections and tribals. 

Other promises include fifty per cent increase in area under cultivation for vegetables by 2023, all district headquarters to be connected through four lane roads, task force to be created for bringing irrigation to dark areas, increased water from the Yamuna, land to build houses for people living in government land.

Proposals for yoga bhawan in each district and giving training for youth for Army recruitment have been made with an eye on youth voters.

In health sector, the BJP promised to cover the entire state population under universal health scheme, and connect all gram panchayats with the 108 ambulances.
