As the Congress made huge gains in the Hindi heartland, dealing a heavy blow to the BJP in Chattisgarh and Rajasthan and giving the saffron party a tight race in Madhya Pradesh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said these results will have no bearing on the Lok Sabha polls next year.

The BJP leadership and party workers would pause and analyse the results and take corrective steps before the general elections, the finance minister told ANI.
He said, "The results are not on the expected lines...The results are an opportunity for the BJP leadership and cadre to pause and analyse," the news agency reported.
He claimed that the general elections will be fought on the Union government policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hence the results of these assembly elections will not be reflected in the Lok Sabha polls next year.
He also said there was no anti-incumbency in the three states where the Congress managed to stage an upset and added that the people voted for change because of the fatigue factor.
