Imran's party slams Modi's 'warmongering' for escalating Indo-Pak tension

As the India-Pakistan situation escalates, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has shared some strong words against his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

When noted journalist Barkha Dutt tweeted her disapproval of BJP leader Yeddyurappa's statement claiming BJP will win 22 seats in Karnataka as a result of Balakot air strike, PTI retweeted saying, "We hope you understand that you were manipulated into war mongering. #LetBetterSensePrevail; isolate the ppl who r desperate to win an election. War is in no nation’s interest,& its soldiers & civilians who are the collateral damage. Don’t let one man use it for political mileage."

This led to further tweets and replies. Dutt replied to the PTI that "Our domestic politics and debate are our business and no one else's. Please focus on your own matters."

To which the PTI responded saying, "When your domestic politicking is taking the region to a brink of war, and Pakistan being dragged in, it becomes our business."

A video posted on the Twitter account of PTI (@PTIofficial) points its fingers squarely at Modi—and his need for warmongering as the elections approach—as the reason behind the souring situation. The video reiterates Pakistan's call for peace through dialogue, and takes hard swipes at Modi saying that the "latest tension stems from Indian jingoism and war hysteria fuelled by Modi regime in bid to win elections". It shows the address by Imran Khan in which he invites India for dialogue for peace, it also mentions the fact that Pakistan opened its sacred Kartarpur corridor for the Indian Sikh community. The video closes by saying that war hysteria has got the better of Modi regime and that they want peace, but will not compromise on their sovereignty.

In a follow-up tweet, PTI goes further and straight up attacks Modi again. "... a desperate bid to win an election by one man is gripping an entire nation in war hysteria," says the tweet. Naming Modi, again, they say that "war is no one's interest except Narendra Modi; whose escalating ego is reminiscent of dictators who started world wars." The tweet is also tagged with #SayNoToWars.

Anoother tweet calls for better sense to prevail "as it is time for peace". It calls on India and its people to reject the politics of Narendra Modi that exploits "an entire nation’s army and its public for one man’s political ambitions".
