As the BJP stepped up its 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed his name on his Twitter profile to 'Chowkidar' Narendra Modi. Other BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Piyush Goyal and Ravi Shankar Prasad also followed suit and changed their name on the social media platform.
BJP leaders, including Union ministers and chief ministers, launched a coordinated campaign in order to seek support from the people in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Narendra Modi tweeted a video of the BJP's campaign and added “every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar”. He mentions that he is not alone in the fight against corruption as common people have also taken steps to become 'chowkidar'.
“Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also added 'chowkidar' to his name and tweeted his support to the #MainBhiChowkidar movement. “I am proud to join #MainBhiChowkidar movement ! We pledge again to work hard to eliminate corruption, keep #NewIndia clean, make last person prosperous and make our Nation stronger under the leadership of Hon PM @narendramodi ji !”
Union Minister Piyush Goyal and BJP chief Amit Shah also tweeted videos advertising the campaign and that every citizen has become a 'chowkidar'.
“As Chowkidars of our nation, we are committed to creating a clean economy by using cashless financial transactions. The menace of corruption and black money has adversely affected us for decades. Time to eliminate these for a better future.#MainBhiChowkidar #ChowkidarPhirSe,”
