Lok Sabha polls: Amit Shah to file nomination on Saturday

It will be a massive show of strength by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gujarat on Saturday when party president Amit Shah files nomination from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.

Shah has replaced six time MP from Gandhinagar and party stalwart L.K. Advani, who has been denied ticket.

The over 4-kilometer long road show will begin from Sardar Patel statue in Naranpura, the constituency which Shah once represented as MLA. The road show will end at the Patel Statue of Patidar Chowk in K.K. Nagar that is part of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Shah is expected to address a public meeting after garlanding the statue in Naranpura.

After the road show, Shah will leave for Gandhinagar by his vehicle and in Gandhinagar party workers will form a human chain on the route leading to the collector office where he would file the nomination papers. The entire Vijay Rupani led cabinet is also expected to remain present.

BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya said that national leaders of both BJP and NDA will come to Gandhinagar on Saturday. Pandya said that a host of cabinet ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackrey will also remain present.

During the road show, Shah will be accorded grand reception at 20 places. Cultural programmes have been also planned during the show.

The Congress is yet to announce the candidate for Gandhinagar seat.
