Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited Thrissur in Kerala on Saturday said the party will continue to serve the public, irrespective of victory or loss.
“We are not in this only for power or forming government. Be it victory or loss, the BJP workers will continue to work at grass root levels. The best example of this is the BJP workers of Kerala,” he said. The prime minister reiterated that through various programmes and welfare activities, the party will try to reach each and every Indian. This is towards building a new India, he added. The BJP, which was hopeful of opening its account in the state riding on the Sabarimala wave, failed to win a single seat in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
He was addressing public at a gathering in Thrissur in Kerala. He also said Kerala, which has a strong culture, has great potential for heritage tourism. Speaking about elephants in the state, he said there will be a focus on animal health and wildlife conservation. There will also be a renewed focus on fishermen and rural economy in the state. Modi added that cattle vaccination is crucial to the rural economy of the state and the Centre is committed to tackle foot and mouth disease in cattle.
In the backdrop of the resurgence of the Nipah virus in the state, Modi promised all assistance from the Centre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Thrissur on Saturday morning to offer prayers at the famed Lord Krishna temple at Guruvayur. He also performed a thulabharam, for which temple authorities reportedly arranged over 100kg of lotus flowers. This is his first visit to the state after coming to power for a second term.
