Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has once again emerged as the top Indian institute in the QS World University Ranking 2020. Ranked at 152, IIT Bombay has improved its position by ten places compared to the 2018 QS World University Ranking.

Among Indian institutes, IIT Bombay was followed by IIT-Delhi and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore at 182nd and 184th position, respectively. The three premium institutes are the only Indian ones in the top 200 rankings. Improved research performance catapulted IIT Bombay to improve its performance this year, QS rankings observed in its report.

“It is a matter of great pride that IIT Bombay, Delhi and IISc Bangalore have been included in the top 200 institutions in the prestigious QS ranking of the world,” tweeted HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

Notably, while four of the 23 Indian institutes featured in the rankings improved their position, seven dropped in their ranks, compared to last year. OP Jindal Global is the only new entrant from India this year.
