A sarpanch and a government employee were killed on Tuesday afternoon in a grenade attack by militants at Hakura in Anantnag in south Kashmir, police sources said.
The attack happened when the ‘Back to Village’ programme was in progress in the area.
The attack created panic in the area and police rushed a team to the spot to take stock of the situation.
The attack happened hours after two people were injured in a blast at Hazratbal in Srinagar.
Grenade throwing incident in Kashmir have witnessed a spurt after the BJP abolished Article 370 that offered limited autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir.
To date, three people including a non Kashmir vendor have died in a series of grenade attacks in Kashmir since August 5.
